The 2010 Balfour Mount Champion Award was presented to the Quality End-of-Life Care Coalition of Canada (QELCCC) in recognition of their valuable contributions to Hospice Palliative and End-of-Life Care within Canada.
The QELCCC is a coalition of over 30 national organization concerned about quality end-of-life care for all Canadians, and who believes that all Canadians have the right to quality end-of-life care that allows them to die with dignity, free of pain, surrounded by their loved ones, in a setting of their choice.
Over the past 10 years the QELCCC members have worked together to improve end-of-life care for all Canadians and have observed some remarkable successes in improvement in access to care, increased numbers of professionals and volunteers with the skills to provide high quality end-of-life care, promotion of research to improve care, better support for family members who care for people who are dying, and education for Canadians about their choices at end of life.
To date the QELCCC continues to grow and is actively moving forward with their endeavours to improve end-of-life care for all Canadians.
